Sky’s new tech ditches the box and dish for an all-in-one TV.
The setup is all in one device without the need for a satellite aerial or set-top box.
No Dish because it is all streamed over WiFi with a minimum download connection of 10Mbps, or 25Mbps required for Ultra HD 3840 x 2160 resolution.
It is basically like a smart TV with the addition of SKY channels, although it’s major difference is the six built-in speakers with a subwoofer to give 360° Dolby Atmos® up to 215Wwatts.
- 3x outwards-firing
- 1x central subwoofer
- 2x upwards-firing
With Quantum Dot technology suggests the hardware is by Samsung, which comes in three (Small – 43″ Medium – 55″ Large – 65″65″) and five colours (Ocean Blue, Ceramic White, Racing Green, Dusky Pink, or Anthracite Black).
The remote allows voice control and works very well.
Sky Glass come with a two-year warranty as standard, which is less than some who give 5 years of TVs.
Energy consumption is quite reasonable.
- Small 43″ 66 W / 79 W
- Medium 55″ 77 W / 117 W
- Large 65″ 85 W / 169 W
The downside is Sky Glass lacks any recording features.
