SIM Fix Found as O2 struggles after Virgin customers transferred to the network

O2 is struggling to give service to customers who have recently switched from Virgin Mobile, with many reporting errors of “mobile network not available”.

The problems began in June 2023, when O2 began migrating Virgin Mobile customers to its own network. The migration was supposed to be seamless, but many customers have reported that they have been left without service since switching.

The errors of “mobile network not available” can make it impossible to make calls, send texts, or use mobile data. Customers who have experienced these errors have reported being unable to contact emergency services, work from home, or stay connected with friends and family.

We are also affected, each day we wake up not receiving important texts or calls. We have to reboot the phone to get it active again and find messages and calls missed. We called support and they want customers to reset all their “Wi-fi, Bluetooth and Network settings” but we have seen this does not solve the issue.
Customers can also add a new APN but the ones we found on 02 community were outdated October 2013 and before 5G.

We were originally on the virgin sim, but have since installed a new O2 sim sent to us by support. But this made this worse.

• Missed opportunities. If you miss a call from a potential customer, you could miss out on a valuable opportunity to make a sale. You could also miss out on important information about a job opportunity, a new product or service, or a social engagement.
• Damaged relationships. If you miss a call from a friend, family member, or colleague, you could damage the relationship. They may feel like you don’t care about them or that you’re not reliable. This could lead to tension and conflict in your relationships.

O2 has acknowledged the problems and said that it is working to fix them. However, the company has not given a timeline for when the problems will be resolved.

In the meantime, customers who are affected by the problems are advised to contact O2 customer support. O2 may be able to provide a temporary SIM card or other workaround until the problems are fixed.

The problems with O2’s service come at a time when the company is facing increasing competition from other mobile networks, such as EE and Vodafone. O2 needs to fix the problems quickly if it wants to avoid losing customers to its rivals.

We found a 5G mast that isn’t working as it should, but it will be another 12 days until work is started to fix it. Customers can make a complaint to OFCOM.

In a statement, O2 said: “We are aware of some customers who are experiencing issues with their mobile network after switching from Virgin Mobile. We are working hard to fix these issues as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
