Intel i7 vs Ryzen 9 High-Resolution Performance Laptops

Still searching for a fast laptop for video and photo editing, I am now focusing on displays over 1080p.

The two below have QHD at 165hz which is more useful for games than what I intend.

HP OMEN – Ryzen 9
ACER NITRO – AN517-54

We like the Nitro for the faster USB as transferring large data can be time-consuming. Both Laptops are on par for processing power and cores. And that both have space for adding extra storage. The power consumption is lower with the i7.

The Ryzen 9 is the faster processor, and the RTX 3060 is the better GFX, but both setups are very close on performance, and not much between them.

One thing I did not like about the OMEN was the 90-degree pointed corners, and feel that a slightly rounded curve would have dealt with that.

The Intel Core i7-11800H and the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX have 2 memory channels. The intel supports the use of up to 128 gigabytes of DDR4-3200 RAM, but AMD only 64 gigabytes of RAM. In addition, the AMD processor also supports the LPDDR4-4266 main memory type.

Hands on

The motherboard manufacturer is Kamiq_TLS which has PCI-express 4 (16.0 GT/s), but it comes with PCIe Gen3 Nvme (Samsung PM991a MZVLQ512HBLU) PCIe Gen3.0 x4.
