Sequel to the film “Joker” from 2019. The title itself hints at the film’s central theme: “folie à deux” is a French term for a shared delusional disorder.
“Joker: Folie à Deux,” the long-awaited sequel to the 2019 critical darling “Joker,” hits theatres this October. This psychological thriller, once again directed by Todd Phillips, takes us back into the dark and twisted world of Arthur Fleck, the Joker, played by the mesmerizing Joaquin Phoenix.
Phoenix reprises his Academy Award-winning role, this time joined by the enigmatic Lady Gaga. Gaga steps into the shoes of Harley Quinn, a new character for this iteration of the DC universe. Gone is the portrayal by Margot Robbie from the “Suicide Squad” films; Gaga’s Quinn promises to be a fresh take on the complex and often toxic accomplice to the Joker.
Gone is the gritty realism of the first film. “Folie à Deux” embraces a musical style, adding another layer of unreality to Gotham City’s underbelly.
