Windows new Hello

Get Windows 10 Hello Free TodayThe new Windows Defender Security Center dashboard coming with the Windows 10 Creators Update gives you visibility of your device security, health, and online safety.

Windows Hello uses biometric sensors to recognize your face or fingerprint instantly and unlocks your device without needing a password.

Windows Hello can use any paired iPhone, Android or Windows Phone to detect when you step away from your PC or tablet, automatically locking it behind you for an extra measure of security and privacy. This remote lock feature works with smartphones, fitness bands or any device that’s paired to your PC or tablet. I hope this includes Smartwatches.

With the Creators Update, Microsoft offers a new service to help you monitor your security, the Windows Defender Security Center. It offers a single dashboard display to control security options from one place – everything from anti-virus, network and firewall protection; to assessing your device performance and health; to security controls for your apps and browser; to family safety options.

A new Device Health Advisor gives you information on the vital signs of your device, and new settings give you more control over app installation. For business customers, the Creators Update will continue to bring new tools and capabilities that help simplify IT – making it easier to better deploy, manage and support Windows 10 devices – and to help stomp security threats.

A new Microsoft privacy dashboard lets you see and manage your activity data across multiple Microsoft services.

The Creators Update will start to roll out via Windows Update on April 11. We will be rolling it out in a measured way to ensure the best possible customer experience.

To get started, check to see if your device works with Windows Hello:

Go to Windows Settings (or simply type Windows key + I) > select Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello

If you want Windows 10 to log you on automatically just when your computer sees you then you first need to ensure you have the required 3D depth camera. I cover this requirement at http://windowsitpro.com/windows-10/q-what-required-use-windows-hello-facial-recognition-logon-windows-10 and the good news is the Intel F200 now has a driver available to support Windows Hello at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25044/Intel-RealSense-Depth-Camera-Manager-DCM-. Once you have the required hardware and driver to actually setup Windows Hello is very easy.
